One thing that I want for expectant mothers is for it to be Okay for us to talk about our full range of emotions around pregnancy – the good, the bad, and the everything in between. I want it to be okay for a woman to say that she’s not excited about the baby growing in her tummy right now, even if she’s married, has a big house, and has all circumstances that “seem” ideal for a baby to come into the picture. Too often when I think about how I’m doing in life, I don’t rate myself in terms of progress – how far I’m come, what I’ve achieved, how I’ve grown and expanded my capacities. Instead I take out my imaginary yardstick and I begin to compare myself to others. Have you done this? I’m really nasty about it. I am downright mean. Read the rest of this entry »

I’ve interviewed over 60 women about the choices they made during their pregnancies and about how they dealt with any challenging circumstances that came up. And, we women are amazing! I have been and continue to be so inspired by what women do. And, we all do it differently. We find our unique perspectives and methods that have us thrive.

When we become pregnant for the second time, we know all that we know about our first pregnancy. We know how we felt about certain things, how we dealt with any concerns we had, what excited us, what we focused on, how it felt to be pregnant and how it was to deliver a baby. We know what choices we made and we know how those worked out for us. We may have a mental list of things that we will do the same and definitely do differently the second time around!
